BUFFALO — The Erie County Bomb Squad is on scene at Canalside where Buffalo Police report that they are removing a suspicious package found inside a portable john this morning.
According to BPD, law enforcement began to investigate the package around 9:30 a.m. after it was found by a worker who was cleaning this morning.
A robot removed something from the portable toilet and placed the unknown item into a container.
Police have shut down traffic in the immediate vicinity, particularly on Marine Drive between Commercial and Hanover streets.
UPDATE: Buffalo police say the item “does not appear explosive in nature.”
