NEWSTEAD — A 21-year-old Clarence man was charged Friday with petit larceny, trespassing, resisting arrest and obstruction.

According to New York State Police, Troopers had responded to a Sandhill Road residence where the owner had observed an unknown male subject in his yard holding a crowbar. The subject, who turned out to be Alan M. Savankinas, reportedly fled in a pickup truck when the owner pulled in the driveway.

A notice was put out to local police departments and a few hours later, Savankinas was located by Lancaster Police Department. NYSP Troopers responded and as Savankinas was being taken into custody, he resisted arrest.

Savankinas was processed and released with return dates in Lancaster and Newstead Courts.
