BELFAST — A 35-year-old Belfast man was charged Saturday with felony DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation after he was stopped on his ATV.

According to New York State Police, Tyson G. Shafer was observed operating the ATV on Angel Street and Chestnut Street. When Troopers stopped him, they determined him to be intoxicated. He was taken to SP Amity and found to have a .16 blood alcohol content. A prior DWI conviction in the last 10 years made Saturday’s charge a felony. .

Shafer was arraigned before the Town of Belfast Court where he was released to reappear before the court on June 28.
