BOSTON — A 27-year-old Buffalo man was charged early this morning with driving while intoxicated when he arrived at the New York State Troopers’ barracks intoxicated — to pick up his girlfriend who had earlier been arrested for DWI.

According to New York State Police, Troopers out of Boston had stopped a gray 2008 Chevy Cobalt around 12:50 a.m. for not having brake lights. Troopers determined the driver, 25-year-old Brianna Barrett, to be intoxicated. She was found to have a .11 percent blood alcohol content.  She was charged and taken to the Troopers’ barracks for processing and subsequent release to her boyfriend, 27-year-old Matthew A. Zych.

When Zych arrived at the Troopers’ barracks, he was determined to be intoxicated, Troopers then placed Zych in custody and charged him with DWI. He was found to have a .08 percent blood alcohol content.

Zych was processed and will appear before the Town of Boston Court on June 16, while Barrett will appear before the Town of West Seneca Court on June 10.

“Both subjects were then released to a third party who arrived at the station sober,” according to police.
