CLARENCE — Troopers charged Michael J. Akright, 39, of Akron and Victor J. Viola, 54, of Clarence with DWI in separate incidents over the weekend.

According to New York State Police, Troopers observed a vehicle speeding on Clarence Center Road on Saturday.  The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Michael J. Akright was determined to be intoxicated and found to be in possession of Hydrocodone pills without a prescription.  Akright was processed at SP Clarence for DWI and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

On Sunday, police say Victor J. Viola was observed making an improper turn from Transit Road onto Roll Road. The vehicle was stopped and Viola failed field sobriety tests. He was processed as SP Clarence and provided a breath sample of .11 percent blood alcohol content.

Both men have a return date in the Town of Clarence Court.
