FREEDOM — A 42-year-old Belmont man was charged Thursday with DWI and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance following a motor vehicle crash.

According to New York State Police, Steven Passalacqua exhibited signs of impairment and verbally admitted to heroin use following the crash around 5:45 p.m.

Passalacqua was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Freedom for June.
