BUFFALO — Buffalo Botanical Gardens members and volunteers get a jump on this year’s Great Plant Sale until 7 o’clock tonight, as the gardens kick off a busy weekend.

The general public can shop the botanical gardens for perennials, tropicals and unusual plants that are unavailable elsewhere from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

There are also container garden teaching sessions this afternoon and tomorrow, check the schedule here: http://www.buffalogardens.com/products/the-great-plant-sale-2016

Ongoing at the Gardens is the sale of only 700 tickets for the Travel Raffle, with a grand prize featuring a Dream Vacation for 2 to Ireland, Mexico or the Caribbean. Tickets are just $20, and available through the website or at the Gift Shop.

Saturdays are also Wegman’s Family Day at the Gardens, and this weekend kids aged 5 to 12 can learn about “Extraordinary Pollinators” and create their own birdhouse to bring home. Family Day programs are free with general admission from 10a to 2p. The schedule for upcoming Saturday programming is available on the Wegman’s Family Garden page.
