NIAGARA FALLS — Some government services offered at Niagara County’s Trott Access Center are curtailed, and will likely remain so for the next 24 hours, due to a computer virus attacking county computers and servers there.
County computers at the Trott campus were taken offline due to the malicious attack late this morning. Trott, 1001 11th St., hosts offices of the Public Health, Mental Health, Probation, and Employment & Training departments as well as a Department of Motor Vehicles branch.
The DMV was not impacted.
The county’s Information Technology Department indicated that the CryptoLocker ransomware virus was quickly quarantined, and at no time was personal information stored on servers in jeopardy of being accessed.
The most significant impact of the computer outage is the decision by the Department of Public Health to cancel a Thursday sexually-transmitted disease clinic planned at the Trott site. The regular STD clinic schedule will resume next week.

Meanwhile, the Mental Health Department, the Department of Employment & Training, and Probation continue to provide full services.
