AKRON — An Erie County Sheriff’s deputy, armed with the right tool for the job, extinguished a fire at a Morgan Street home.

According to ECSO, Deputy Wood responded to a call for a dwelling on fire around 9:30 a.m. Monday. When he arrived, he observed leaves and mulch alongside the residence burning. He used a dry chemical fire extinguisher from his patrol vehicle to put out the fire.

At the time of the fire, a resident in the upper unit was evacuated until Akron Fire Company checked the area for remaining hot spots.

The Sheriff’s Fire Investigation Unit was notified and is investigating the incident.
