BUFFALO – Erie County Sheriff’s Office Deputy assigned to the Erie County Holding Center was charged Monday afternoon following an investigation that revealed he was smuggling Suboxone for inmates.

According to Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard, ECSO executed a search warrant signed by New York State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Drury for Adam Fiegl’s property, during which members of the Narcotics Unit discovered a quantity of Suboxone and $200 in cash.

Units from the Jail Management Division and the Narcotics Unit collaborated on the investigation and learned Fiegl, 32 of Orchard Park, was accepting bribes from individuals to smuggle contraband into the holding center, according to Howard.

Fiegl was arrested and charged with introducing contraband into a prison, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and receiving a bribe – all Class D Felonies. He is held at the Niagara County Jail pending his arraignment in Buffalo City Court.

Fiegl, hired in 2013, is suspended without pay pending criminal and internal proceedings.
