DENVER, COLO. – In its first of two games in Colorado this weekend, the Niagara women’s lacrosse program fell to the No. 6 team in the nation, 17-5 Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.

Game Recap
First Quarter
• Denver opened the game with a goal at the 12:08 mark, before Niagara tied the contest a couple minutes later with its first goal, a free-position tally from Lexi Braniecki.
• The Pioneers would score three more times in the frame to take a 4-1 lead after 15-minutes of action.
• Rachel Crane would have a shot hit the post as she tried to get Niagara its second goal of the game.
 
Second Quarter
• The second stanza was all Denver as the Pioneers added five goals to take a 9-1 lead into the break.
• Niagara took four shots in the frame, including two free-position chances. The first from Lois Garlow at the 7:33 mark hit the post, followed by a save on an attempt from Andra Savage with 2:03 to go.
• Savage would also have a shot go off the post in the quarter.  
 
Third Quarter
• After Denver made it a 10-1 contest, Riley Latray would get one back for the Purple Eagles, her fifth of the season, at the 10:36 mark of the period.
• The sixth ranked Pioneers would take a 11-2 lead with a goal three minutes later.
• Savage would get her first tally of the contest on a free-position shot with 3:07 left in third.  
• Denver scored its 12th and 13th goals of the contest to take a 13-3 lead into the fourth.
 
Fourth Quarter
• The final quarter of play started with a goal from Denver to go up 11.
• Savage would bring it back down to 11 with another free-position goal with 10:43 remaining.
• After two Denver goals, Giordan Peck found the back of the net for NU’s final goal of the contest.
• Denver would add one more to give the game its 17-5 final.
 
Niagara Notes
• Thursday marked the second meeting between Denver and Niagara, with the Pioneers taking a 2-0 lead in the series.
• Colorado native and reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week, Emma Mielke made three saves. Jordan Roy also made three saves in the contest.  
• Savage led Niagara with two goals, while three other Purple Eagles tallied one. Savage now leads Niagara with 19 goals on the season.
• Braniecki recorded multiple points for the sixth time this season with an assist and a goal.
• Jenna Brill led NU with three draw controls wins, followed by Kendall Schneider with two.
• Sydney Huhtala finished the game with five caused turnovers, a career-high for the first-year Purple Eagle.

• The Purple and White will play a neutral site contest with Delaware Saturday, March 11 at 2 p.m. ET/12 p.m. MT.
