INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE

  • DaRon Hughey (Hartford, CT/The Masters School) chipped in 12 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Bengals led by as many as four in the opening minutes after a 3-pointer by Kevin Carpenter (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West) and a free throw by Mally Peaker (New York, NY/University Prep).
  • Both teams traded baskets through the rest of the half, and a pair of free throws with under two seconds left in the half by Kevin Tabb gave Plattsburgh a 34-32 lead into halftime.
  • The Cardinals opened the second half on an 18-4 run to build a large advantage.
  • Minutes later, back-to-back 3-pointers by Parkinson and Hughey sparked a 9-0 Bengals run to cut into the lead.
  • Buffalo State cut the deficit down to two multiple times, but the Bengals were unable to even the score.
  • Hughey drained a pair of free throws with 4.7 seconds remaining to cut the lead to one, but after Plattsburgh made one of two from the foul line, Hughey’s half-court heave as time expired was just off the mark.
