A retired machine operator at Niagara Envelope Company for several years, Marilyn L. Brown, passed away at Millard Fillmore Hospital, in Amherst, New York, at the age of 84.

Marilyn grew up in the Durham Avenue area of Buffalo, near the former E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital (the now ECMC), and began her working career at the former Lilli’s Chocolate Shop, at the age of 16. She then continued on to several jobs that included Nabisco, O-Cello Sponges and ended up at Niagara Envelope Company, and changed jobs due to lay-offs and just companies closing over the many years.

Thru it all, she remained friends with several of the folks that she worked with and formed lunch groups at the former Pumpernick and Pastry Bakery or McDonald’s, for a coffee and conversation about the good old days. She was always extremely sociable and a great conversationalist.

But for Marilyn, it was always “All about Family”! She was always the first one to arrive and the last one to leave any family gathering. She made sure that everyone was happy and having a good time. She also enjoyed being able to travel with family and friends.

She was also an excellent baker and was always sought after for her Peanut Butter Balls or one of her other tasty desserts.

Marilyn was the dearest mother of Colleen (Charles) Boykin and the late Dean (Colleen Nowak) Brown and the late Richard E. (Jodi) Brown Jr.

A loving grandmother to Laura (Zach) Boland, Brittini (Brian) Benson, Drew (Bernice) Brown, Maegen (Jeff) Lloyd, Deanna (Mike) Fullington, and Danielle Pratts and fond great-grandmother of Addison Boland, Kai Boland, Penelope Boland, Hazel Benson, Clementine Benson, Kinsley Lloyd, Pheonix Fullington, Remy Fullington, Waylon Mejak and Levi Mejak.

Born on Friday, February 18, 1938, the cherished daughter of the late Lionette (nee Manzella) Soto and the late Gerald Soto and was the dear sister of Edward Kress, Gerry (Stacy) Soto, Don (Louann) Soto, Trish (Tim) Phillips, Barb (Ron) Ehlen and the late Theresa (late Edwin) Yanik and late Robert (Sandy) Soto and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, from 4-8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William Street (near Harlem) where services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 10 AM.
