BROCKPORT, N.Y.— Mike Simpson (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena), Makhia Laster (Buffalo, N.Y./Tapestry Charter), and Clara Sensini (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) each earned their way to Saturday’s final, as the Buffalo State track and field team began action at the SUNYAC Indoor Championships Friday evening.

MEN’S NOTABLES

  • Simpson earned a personal record in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing second in his heat with a time of 8.65. He also finished 11th in the 60-meter hurdles, earning a time of 7.35.
  • In the distance medley relay, Chris Goodlander (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield), Dylan Devine (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport), Benaleo Daniels (Buffalo, N.Y./Binghamton), and Daniel Sorge (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield) finished eighth in a time of 11:50.56.

WOMEN’S NOTABLES

  • Laster finished second in her heat by one-hundreths of a second, with her time of 8.03 third among the two heats and a college best. She was also second in her group and 12th overall in the 200 with a time of 27.04.
  • Sensini was the lone Bengal to win her heat, earning a spot into the final of the 400-meter event with a personal-best time of 59.99. She also finished 14th in the 200 with a time of 27.27.
  • Tima Abdellatif (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) finished ninth overall in the 60-meter hurdles event, earning a time of 10.43.
  • In the distance medley relay, Sensini, Brooklyn Lawrence (Buffalo, N.Y./Cheektowaga Central), Destiny Rivera (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Liberal Arts), and Kassidy Manke (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore West) finished eighth in a time of 14:17.58.
