Robert Morris’ Sheridan Reid scored twice in the second half and teammate Nicolette Casarcia scored the eventual game-winner in the game’s 59th minutes as the host Colonials downed Canisius 3-1 in non-conference women’s soccer action on Monday at the North Athletic Complex in Moon Township, Pa.
 
The win moves the Colonials to 1-2-1 on the year while Canisius fell to 1-2-0 with the loss.
 
The Golden Griffins took a 1-0 lead into the intermission break after senior Alicia Larsson Vahlberg took a feed from teammate Shauna Lee and fired a shot from the right wing into the goal in the game’s 38th minute. The goal for Larsson Vahlberg is her first of the season and the second in her career. Robert Morris knotted the game at 1-1 in the 48th minute before Casarcia put the Colonials ahead for good with her first goal of the season at the 58:35 mark of the second half.
 
Sheridan capped the scoring in the 74th minute, her first collegiate multi-goal game. Canisius senior goalkeeper Alana Rossi made nine saves in goal on 13 shots for the Griffs, while Robert Morris goalkeeper Sydney Bruckner, who came in after the halftime break, made five stops en route to the win in goal.
 
The Colonials outshot the Grifs 19-13 and lead Canisius 12-8 in shots on goal.

“Success is going to be the result of consistency, and by doing the little things. We have to be more consistent in those things. We just need to work to make sure that good things happen and be mindful of little things and do those things well. Valparaiso is just that next step and hopefully we can have another successful game.”

Game Notes
• Monday’s game at Robert Morris marked the sixth meeting between the two programs.
• The loss on Monday ended Canisius’ three-game win streak in the series over the Colonials.
