Jacob “Jack” LaPort passed away June 13, 2019 in Orchard Manor in Medina, NY.  Born November 23, 1928 in Pendleton, he was the son of Leo V. and Alina (Fiegle) LaPort.  Jacob served in the US Air Force from 1945 to 1948 and 1951 to 1952.  He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He worked for Norton Laboratories from 1945 to 1965 and the for Harrison Radiator Division of GM for 26 years, retiring in 1991. Jacob was a member of the B. Leo Dolan Post 410, the UAW Local 686 Retirees, and St. John’s Catholic Church.

He was a unique and distinctive man, especially because of his friendliness and his generosity. Jacob was most happy when tending to his elaborate garden at his Howard Avenue home. His family and friends feel a deep sadness at his passing. Jacob can never be replaced.

He was predeceased by his wife, Alyce (Davis) LaPort on February 27, 2017. He was also predeceased by his step-daughter, Michaeleen Fisk of Lyndonville.

Jacob is survived by his daughter Kathy Ann LaPort; step-children Patrick Lee Stickney and; son-in-law Richard (Linda) Fisk; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by siblings Ruth Jagow, Betty (Ralph) Kinyon, Louis, Herbert, Robert, and Leo LaPort.

Friends may call on Monday June 17th 3-7 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday June 18th at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport.  Memorials or donations may be made to the COPD Foundation, and the ASPCA.  Online condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com.
