BUFFALO STATE ATHLETICS

Lauer, Evert and Rutledge
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Empire 8 announced its All-Conference football teams today and three Buffalo State players drew recognition with Dave Lauer (Tonawanda/St. Joe’s) earning second team honors and Jordan Evert(Buffalo/Sweet Home) and Jamar Rutledge (Buffalo/McKinley) drawing honorable mention status.

Lauer, a junior offensive lineman majoring in criminal justice, is a first-time honoree.  He started all 10 games at left tackle and was the Bengals’ top-graded lineman in every game, grading over 80-percent in each contest.

Evert, a junior wide receiver studying criminal justice, is also a first-time All-Conference selection.  After taking a season off in 2017, Evert hit the ground running in 2018 and finished the season with 51 catches and was fifth in the E8 with 682 yards.  He also had seven receiving touchdowns and scored another on a blocked punt.

Rutledge, a senior business major, earned All-Empire 8 honors for the second-straight year as a returner.  He finished second in the league averaging 21.7 yards-per-kick return, piling up 413 yards on 19 tries, including an 85-yard touchdown in the season finale at St. John Fisher.

Buffalo State will leave the Empire 8 to join the Liberty League for the 2019 season.
