HAMDEN, C.T. — In their final match of the regular season, the Purple Eagles fell to the Quinnipiac Bobcats in straight sets.

Match Summary
First Set

  • The Purple Eagles and the Bobcats kept things close in the first set. The score was tied 11 times over the course of the set.
  • Niagara and Quinnipiac were tied, 15-15, before the Bobcats began to pull away.
  • Quinnipiac won the first set, 25-21.

Second Set

  • Quinnipiac narrowly led the Purple Eagles, 7-6, before the Bobcats went on a 5-0 run to take a 12-6 lead over NU.
  • The Bobcats maintained control of the lead, 22-17. Two straight kills from Mary Redl brought Niagara within three points of Quinnipiac, 22-19.
  • The Bobcats, however, hung on to take the set, 25-21, and take a 2-0 match lead.

Third Set

  • The teams once again kept things close in the third set and the score was tied 11 times during set three.
  • The Bobcats led, 19-15, but a 4-0 run from Niagara, including two straight kills from Caroline Leitch, tied things up, 19-19.
  • Two straight errors from Quinnipiac put the Purple Eagles in the lead, 23-21, but the Bobcats came back to earn the third set win, 28-26, and sweep the match.
