NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The Purple Eagles start their 2018-19 campaign competing at the Bison Invite, hosted by Bucknell University, this weekend.
Scene Setter
- Niagara returns five letterwinners from last season’s team that qualified for the four-team MAAC Tournament.
- Senior Shannon Wong, juniors Ali Hutchinson and Andreea Peteu, and sophomores Chinnda Som and Alexandra Whitney.
- NU welcomes four newcomers to the team – Olga Donchu, Megan Gamble, Loreana Armenti, and Lila Trunzo.
Match Tidbits
- Andreea Peteu led the Purple Eagles in singles wins with 14, including 10 coming in No. 10 singles.
- Shannon Wong (12) and Ali Hutchinson (10) are the only returners with double-digit wins in singles.
- The top doubles tandem of Chhinda Som and Ali Hutchinson went 10-8 overall, including going 5-1 in MAAC matches.
Captains
- Shannon Wong and Andreea Peteu will be captains for the 2018-19 Purple Eagles.
- Wong (No. 5) and Peteu (No. 2) both were named to the 2017-18 All-MAAC Second Team in singles.
