BUFFALO — Charlotte Miller and Vinny Mallaro have been named as the University at Buffalo athletes of the week.

Junior Charllote Miller pitched three gems for the Bulls this past week as she went 2-1, allowing just one earned run in 23.0 innings of work and finishing the week with a miniscule ERA of just 0.30, while striking out 21 batting and walking just three. She began the week on Tuesday with a 3-0 win at Akron where she scattered four hits over seven innings. On Saturday, she picked up a hard-luck loss as she allowed no earned runs in a 2-0 loss to Western Michigan, but she allowed just four hits and struck out nine Western Michigan batters over the seven innings. She led the Bulls to a win on Sunday as she pitched 9.0 compelte innings and struck out eight Western Michigan batters, allowing just one eatned run in the nine-inning affair. Miller had 17 strike outs over her final 16 innings of work this past weekend as she lowered her ERA to 1.62 this season.

Senior Vinny Mallaro continued to swing a great bat for the Bulls this week as he led UB to their first MAC series win of the season over Northern Illinois this weekend. Mallaro was able to bat .500 with a team-high five RBI as the Bulls won two of three from the Huskies. The Syracuse, NY native had his best game of the weekend on Saturday night as he was able to go 3-for-4 with a season-best four RBI and a double as UB won 6-2. On Sunday, Mallaro went 2-for-4 with the lone RBI in game one while going 1-for-4 in the game two victory over the Huskies. Mallaro has now connected on at least one hit in six straight games while producing multi-hit outings in three of his last four games. He currently leads the team with 11 multi-hit games while ranking third on the squad with 19 RBI on the season.
