BUFFALO — University at Buffalo wrestlers continue to climb the national rankings as the Bulls are enjoying one of its best seasons in recent memory. Bryan Lantry and James Benjamin lead the way, appearing in four different national rankings.

Lantry, UB’s 133-pounder, is Buffalo’s highest ranked wrestler – ranked 15th in WIN’s latest rankings. The redshirt-sophomore is also ranked 16th by InterMat and 17th by TrackWrestling. In the most recent NCAA Coaches Panel Rankings, the Walworth, NY native is ranked 18th. Lantry is 14-4 on the year, including 9-2 in dual matches.

Benjamin is ranked 18th at 197 lbs. by WIN. The UB senior is also ranked 20th by InterMat and 21st by TrackWrestling. He was ranked 22nd in the latest NCAA Coaches Panel Rankings. Benjamin is having the best season of his career, as he is 14-2 overall and 5-1 in duals.

Four other Bulls were ranked in the NCAA Coaches Panel Rankings. Kyle Akins was ranked 32nd at 125. Colt Cotten ranked 29th at 149. Brett Perry was ranked 29th at 184 and Jake Gunning ranked 28th at 285.


The Bulls are back in action on Friday night when they host Eastern Michigan at Alumni Arena.
