Laura (Giuliani) Colangelo, 83, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, February 7, 2021.  Born in Introdacqua, Province of L’Aquila, Abruzzi, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giulio and Maria (Centofanti) Giuliani.

Laura came to the United States in 1954.  She was employed at Walker’s Laundry in Niagara Falls.  On August 31, 1957, Laura married Joseph Colangelo at St. Joseph’s Church.  Mr. Colangelo predeceased her on April 19, 2012.  Mr. and Mrs. Colangelo were lifelong parishioners of St. Joseph’s Church.  While raising her five children, Laura was very active in the St. Joseph’s School Mother’s Club.  She was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Women’s Society and participated in the yearly honoring of San Feliciano at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine. 

Laura enjoyed flower gardening and watching Buffalo Bills games.  Her home was the gathering place for her family and friends for many years. She prepared many holiday meals, and Sunday dinners were always filled with much laughter.  As the matriarch of her family, she will be greatly missed.

Laura was the beloved mother of Anna (Samuel) Paniccia, Attilio (Angela) Colangelo, Giulio (Elizabeth) Colangelo, and Ida Maria Pannozzo; cherished Nonna to her grandchildren, Joseph (Liz) Colangelo, Christina (Tony) Scarpace, Julia (Jeff) Meyers, Nicholas Colangelo, Michael, Matthew and Christopher Paniccia, Lucas and Ava Pannozzo, as well as to her great-grandchildren, Giuliana, Santino, Gabriel, Sophia and Massimo.

She is also survived by her sister, Liliana (Tony) Benedetti, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States and Canada.  In addition to her husband of 54 years, Laura was predeceased by her son, Anthony (Flora) Colangelo, sister-in-law Adelina (late Pasquale) DiCenso, and brothers-in-law Vincent (late Elaine) Colangelo and Pasquale Colangelo.

Laura’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 10 AM at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.  Private entombment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St. Peter’s RC School, 140 N. 6th Street, Lewiston, NY 14092.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
