BEMUS POINT — A 69-year-old Jamestown man was charged Sept. 29 with first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Route 430.

According to New York State Police, James Griffin was pulled over for speeding. While speaking to Griffin, the Troopers smelled marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.  A search of Griffin and his vehicle revealed a bag containing an ounce of marijuana.  Griffin was issued an appearance ticket and a speeding ticket and is scheduled to appear in the town of Ellery Court later in the month.
