NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Purple Eagles women’s golf team begins its fall season at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational Sept. 2-3.

This will be Niagara’s fifth straight season beginning its season with the Roseann Schwartz Invitational. The tournament, hosted by Youngstown State, will take place at Mill Greek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio, which will play approximately 5,9312 yards and is a par 72.

The Purple Eagles placed seventh at last year’s invitational with a total team score of 641 (+65).

Niagara returns four golfers from last year’s squad; Marissa Del MonacoSarah GodfreyDaniella Hopper and Susan Leone. The Purple Eagles welcome three freshmen; Hanna DombroskiEve Quinn and Andrea SaenzClaire Schoemick, a former member of the NU swimming and diving team, also joins the women’s golf team this year.

This is Niagara’s second season under head coach Jim LaBuda, who took over head coaching duties prior to the start of the spring 2018 season. LaBuda led the team to a fifth place finish at the MAAC Championships. It was the Purple Eagles’ highest finish in the conference tournament since 2012, when NU also placed fifth.

Following the Roseann Schwartz Invitational, Niagara will head to Rochester, Mich. to compete in the Golden Grizzlies Invitational, hosted by Oakland, Sept. 16-17.
