Canisius women’s basketball head coach Scott Hemerhas announced the Golden Griffins non-conference slate for the upcoming 2019-20 season. The schedule features games with five programs that advanced to the postseason in 2018-19, including NCAA Tournament participant Buffalo, as well as Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament champion Appalachian State.

Canisius opens the season with the opportunity to avenge two losses from last season, first at Youngstown State (Nov. 5) and again one week later with cross-town rival Buffalo (Nov. 12) at Alumni Arena.

The Blue and Gold hosts its first game at the Koessler Athletic Center in 2019-20 when long-time rival St. Bonaventure arrives on Main Street Nov. 17. That game marks the first of three-straight games at home for the Griffs as they also host Colgate (Nov. 20) and Albany (Nov. 27) to close out the month.

The month of December tips-off with a trip to Burlington, Vt., for a contest with the Catamounts on Dec. 7. Canisius defeated Vermont, 67-46, last December for its largest win of the 2018-19 season.

The Blue and Gold then head to DeLand, Fla., to participate in the 32nd Annual Hatter Classic where they will take on the host Stetson (Dec. 19) and Appalachain State (Dec. 20) on back-to-back days. The trip will mark the first ever meeting with the Mountaineers and the program’s first trip to Florida since the 2003-04 campaign.

Canisius completes its non-league slate with a trip to Ohio to renew a rivalry that has been dormant for over 30 years with the Toledo Rockets on Dec. 29. Canisius last played Toledo in 1978, a 78-73 win for the Rockets.
