Chandler Poczciwinski: First, I would just like to say thank you for taking the time to answer my questions! To
start, can you talk about how you all met and how this project came together?
Overlook: Our Guitarist Criss, Drummer Jon, and Vocalist Sam met in 2017 in a different band. When that band fell apart they moved on to form Overlook. There have been member changes but through all of them our Bassist Tom and our newer member Ryan our Lead Guitarist have stuck around and everything has been amazing since that.
CP: How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard you before?
O: We would describe our music as Metalcore/ Post-Hardcore.
CP: Where do you take your musical inspiration from? Is there a certain band or theme that
inspires you to make music?
O: The bands that influence us the most are Ice Nine Kills, Wage War, and Every Time I Die.
CP: Recently I have noticed that you have been playing a bunch of shows with some really
great bands. What has been the best show you have played so far?
O: The best show we have played had to be with Convictions and Set For The Fall in Rochester back in November. It was during a blizzard and no body came out but it created a special moment between all bands playing and we are felt unified for one night. It’s an experience we will never forget.
CP: What are some of your favorite local bands in the Buffalo scene?
O: Dilettante, A Stranger To Remorse, Breath Of The Valkyrie, The Impurity, Of Night & Light.
CP: What are most excited about for Burt Fest?
O: We are more excited about playing with band that we wouldn’t normally play with because us being in different genres. It really shows how diverse our scene is and how unique is has become.
CP: What does the future of Overlook look like? Do you have any plans on the horizon that
you can share?
O: We plan on writing new music this summer and recording some new music for everyone this year! We are really excited for the future and we are so excited to show everyone what we are made of!
