HAMDEN, Conn. – The Purple Eagles were defeated by the MAAC-leading Quinnipiac Bobcats, 62-42, on Thursday.  

Game Recap

  • The Purple Eagles opened the game on a 5-0 run before the Bobcats answered with a 7-0 run to take a 7-5 lead. The Purple Eagles and the Bobcats went back and forth but a trey from Maggie McIntyre put Niagara up by three points, 12-9. The Purple Eagles led the Bobcats, 14-13, at the end of the first quarter.
  • The Bobcats began to pull away from Niagara in the second quarter. Though Valentina PepicAdila GathersKharysma Bryant and Emerald Ekpiteta all contributed, the Purple Eagles went into halftime down by 10 points, 31-21.
  • Moore added 10 points for Niagara in the third quarter, including two 3-pointers, but the Purple Eagles still trailed Quinnipiac, 49-35, going into the final quarter of play.
  • Niagara was held to just seven points in the fourth quarter and fell to the Bobcats, 62-42.


Inside the Numbers

  • Moore led all scorers with 17 points. This is Moore’s 19th game this season scoring in double figures.
  • Gathers brought down a team-high eight rebounds.
  • Ekpiteta led the Purple Eagles in steals with three. She also had five rebounds and six points.
  • McIntyre added nine points and two steals for Niagara.
