HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a tight-checking start to the first period, Oswego finally broke through with a power-play marker with less than five minutes remaining in the first period.
  • The Lakers capitalized on a Bengal miscue just 47 seconds later to make it 2-0 when goalie Connor Minch (Manchester, NH/Manchester Central) went to the corner to play the puck and sent it directly onto the stick of Oswego’s Josh Zizek who slid it into the empty net.
  • Colin O’Connor (Kankakee, IL/Providence Catholic) ripped a point shot home off a faceoff win by Sam Maddox (St. Louis, MO/Lindburgh) in the opening minutes of the second period to cut the deficit in half.
  • Oswego reclaimed the two-goal lead later in the frame, however, connecting for its second power-play goal of the game.
  • The Lakers completed the scoring with an empty-net tally late in the third period.
  • Minch finished with 21 saves in the loss.
  • Oswego was 2 for 3 on the power play, and Buffalo State was 0 for 4.
