BRANT — A 21-year-old Irving man was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop on March 21.

According to New York State Police, Troopers stopped James L. White on Route 5 after he failed to stop at a stop sign on Old Lake Shore Road. While interviewing him, Troopers observed in plain view a piece of tin foil with burn marks. White admitted using the foil to smoke fentanyl. A vehicle search produced two pieces of tin foil with burnt fentanyl residue and a 100mcg/h fentanyl patch. Passenger Connor H. Graves, 21, of Fredonia, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after being found with approximately 1.15 grams.

The pair were issued appearance tickets for April 5 at Town of Brant Court.
