New York State Troopers operating out of the Clarence barracks charged eight people with driving while intoxicated over the weekend. The accounts of each follow:
On Friday, 71-year-old Paul Brenton of Clarence drove himself to the State Police Barracks in Clarence to report an incident. While speaking with a Trooper the Trooper noticed that Brenton was intoxicated. Brenton provided a breath sample of .08 percent and was charged with DWI and released to a sober party with a return court date in Clarence Court.
Also Friday, Troopers participating in Operation GIVE (Gun involved violence elimination) in the City of Buffalo observed a vehicle make an illegal turn onto Goodyear Street. The driver 41-year-old William Sywak of Lackawanna appeared intoxicated and refused to participate in field sobriety tests or provide a breath sample. He was arrested and charged with DWI and released with a return court date in the City of Buffalo.
During the same operation, Troopers observed a car backing unsafely on Curtis Street. The vehicle was stopped and the driver Randall Neal, 61 of Buffalo, was unable to perform field sobriety tests due to his level of intoxication. He was arrested and provided a breath sample of .28 percent. Neal was charged with aggravated DWI and released with a return court date in Buffalo.
Also Friday, a Trooper observed a vehicle traveling 80 mph in a 55 mph zone on State Route 33, in Buffalo. The vehicle was stopped and the driver Charles Morrow, 39 of Buffalo failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and provided a breath sample of .11 percent. he was charged with DWI and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle (due to license suspensions). He was released with a return court date in Buffalo.
On Sunday, Troopers participating in Operation GIVE observed a vehicle move from its lane unsafely on Bailey Avenue in Buffalo. The vehicle was stopped and the driver Patrice Coleman, 36, of Buffalo, failed field sobriety tests. Additionally, there were three children unrestrained in the back seat (ages 10, 6 and 2). Coleman was arrested and provided a breath sample of .18 percent. She was charged with aggravated DWI with a child (Leandra’s Law) a felony and endangering the welfare of a child. She was release with a return court date in Buffalo.
Troopers on Sunday observed a vehicle make an improper turn and move from its lane unsafely, Walden Avenue in Lancaster. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Michael Prentice, 24 of Lancaster failed field sobriety tests. Prentice was arrested and refused to provide a breath sample. Prentice was charged with DWI and issued an appearance ticket for Lancaster Court.
Sunday, a Trooper observed a vehicle traveling 80 mph in a 55 mph zone on State Route 33 in Buffalo. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Jonathan Santiago, 31, of Buffalo, failed field sobriety tests. Santiago was arrested and provided a breath sample of .18 percent. He was charged with aggravated DWI and released with a return court date in Buffalo.
This morning, Troopers observed a vehicle traveling 70 mph in a 40 mph, Main Street in Clarence. The vehicle was stopped and the driver 26-year-old Zyed Abbadi of Williamsville failed field sobriety tests. He provided a breath sample of .13 percent. Abbadi was released with a return court date in Clarence Court.
