BUFFALO — Behind a record-setting performance by senior captain Russell Cicerone, the University at Buffalo men’s soccer team (1-0-0, 0-0-0 MAC) picked up a dominant 9-0 victory over Daemen College on Friday night in their season opener at UB Stadium.

The packed stands witnessed history on Friday night as Cicerone set UB Division I program records for goals and points, finishing off his impressive night with five goals and an assist for 11 points in the win. Cicerone also became the first UB player in Division I history to record a hat-trick in a half, scoring three goals through the opening 45 minutes of play.

The Bulls will hit the road on Sunday to defend the Big 4 Shield as they go to Demske Sports Complex to take on the Canisius Golden Griffins. Game time is set for 6:00 pm on Sunday and the match will be aired live on Time Warner Sports.
