The American Side,” a movie filmed throughout Western New York in 2013 is now available to the world — on Netflix.

The mystery stars Greg Stuhr, originally of Eden, and features Hollywood stars Matthew Broderick, Robert Forster, Robert Vaughn, Janeane Garofalo and Camilla Belle. It was filmed primarily in Buffalo and Niagara Falls over the course of 23 days. Portions were also filmed in Lockport and Hamburg.

The film centers on Stuhr’s character, Charlie Paczynski, who gets dragged deeper and deeper into an international plot — revolving around a missing notebook stolen from the hotel room of Nikola Tesla more than 70 years ago — while trying to solve the murder of a friend.

It premiered on the big screen right here in Buffalo at the North Park Theatre on April 22. It has since gone on to play movie theaters large and small around the country. Today it’s available on your computer, tablet, TV or anywhere else you watch Netflix.
